!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Also, since updating the client, I am seeing 520,000 PPD, the highest I’ve seen so far.

I’m not to that level, but the update certainly helps.
My goal is to break 2 oppoflops by the end of the day!

I just checked and the number 1 team in the world has over 1, 136, 784 oppoflops, which means we should be able to catch them in roughly 1,000 weeks or about 20 years * !
* (assu ming they quit right now)

Is that the LinusTechTips team? I could probably be number one if I got sponsored to build PCs worth tens of thousands of dollars. I think they had even built their own F@H server which is a whole other level beyond a small forum of car shitposters.

Look at the number of people they’ve got actively folding though. Cracking the top 1000 is pretty impressive for a small team based around a non-tech web forum.

I see that we’ve gone beyond 968 and 951 and are now a 936. Pretty soon we’ll be a 928.
I have no idea what we’ll be once we hit the 800s...

We’re #4 as it stands. Hard to top the default team and ex-miners. Amazon easily tops the production table if they fire up EC2.

I’ll try throwing my 9900K @ 5,0GHz all cores and OEM 5700XT in the mix if they are idling tomorrow. But that CPU is sucking in 200W at that overclock and the GPU is not far behind, haha.
It’s under an AIO watercooler but I think I might tweak the AVX offset a bit to keep power and temperatures in check before I run any more work units than the simple one I did as a test.

Ah I think I was looking at the Top 100 for the month from the F@H site . After a quick Google search, there’s a site dedicated to detailed F@H stats!

It’s the curecoin team - they have a built in advantage though. They pay users to fold for them. It’s called ‘Merged Folding’ and it’s a lot like bitcoin mining, but for folding.

Ah yeah I see that now. I was looking at the monthly top 100 as opposed to the overall.
I prefer our “do you have a computer? try it out and you can stop if it begins to melt your computer” approach.
I have a 1660 (non “super”) which I received and need to return, but I’m sooooo tempted to buy a PCIE 1x - 16x riser and keep the card, just to flex, but I know that I need to buy a PSU for that because I only have a 450w in my pre-built system which is fine for a single 1660 super...

Top 100 teams...

It’s really cool to see! I didn’t realize how many PC enthusiasts there were here since we mostly talk cars and shitposts.

Yep. EOC stats are built by a small team and pull api data direct from the F@H collection servers, so its a separate data set being presented from what oppo has been using. In the end it all matches but EOC has better breakdowns and historical data at a glance.
Also fun videos
You can also waste hours looking into hardware data and individual user stats. This is AWS:

Also, when you say “we”, do you work with LinusTechTips? That’d be pretty cool - he’s living the dream I had when I was in middle school...

Nah I’ve been following LTT since the beginning, around when I got into tech . First folded for the team in 2013, met Linus sometime in 2010 when he flew cross country for a store opening. Supported NCIX through to their bankruptcy.

In Ottawa, it’s that perfect time of year for me where I run zero AC/heat and my place fluctuates between 21 - 23 degrees depending on how much sun comes in to my place, so I figured the electricity that would normally go towards utilities is now going towards extreme maths.

Holy moly, EC2 is nuts! 17.5 billion points in a week!

You’re damn close from what I see! One beefy WU could put you right there.

Yep, data center flex. For reference, it took LTT over 8,000 active folders to maintain that kind of production, although we did peak at 28bn at the end of our contest (top 5% contributing at least 10m over 2 weeks) . Obviously everybody with different hardware at their disposal . At the end of the day, we’re all doing this for fun and science!

Joining! I use to do SETI@Home. I have a laptop, but just ordered a 2080 external to BOOST! lol

Are we doing a specific task or most needed? They all need help.

I thought I only wanted a fast GPU but it turns out I want a datacenter I guess.
![]() 04/23/2020 at 19:24 |

Its all perspective. Data center GPUs produce about the same as consumer GPUs, in the range of 800k-1.5m PPD average depending on what’s been deployed (while all computational, F@H doesn’t make use of additional VRAM or floating point capability) . You can match that with high end 10 series or 20 series cards easily. The difference is they have thousands in their racks!

Now I definitely want a datacenter, but I’m a little bit short of Bezos level money.

I think most of the “donors” are choosing most needed . Everyone’s GPU is pounding COVID-related things, AFAIK. My brother Ttyymmnn and I each chose Parkinson’s because Pops haz it.

You can also shut off the CPU slot and fold only with the GPU.
